Alexander Zverev suffered a heartbreaking retirement from his semifinal match against Rafael Nadal due to an ankle injury. The German was forced to leave the court in a wheelchair after rolling his ankle on the baseline at the end of the second set, with Nadal leading 7-6(8), 6-6.

Prior to the injury, Zverev had been playing some of the best tennis of his career. In the previous round, he had defeated Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling five-set match that lasted over three hours.
