Boston Celtics 111, Miami Heat 101
After a grueling seven-game series, the Boston Celtics have punched their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time in 12 years. The Celtics held off a late charge from the Miami Heat on Sunday night, winning Game 7 111-101 at TD Garden.
The game was close throughout, but the Celtics took control in the third quarter. They outscored the Heat 33-19 in the period and took a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter.
The Heat rallied in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to just one point with less than two minutes remaining. But the Celtics made some big plays down the stretch, including a clutch three-pointer by Jayson Tatum and a key defensive stop by Marcus Smart.
Tatum led the Celtics with 26 points, while Jaylen Brown added 24 points. Kyle Lowry led the Heat with 23 points, while Jimmy Butler added 22 points.
The Celtics will now face the Western Conference champion Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals. Game 1 of the series is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30.
